Trithemis aurora (Burmeister, 1839)
Photo taken in Lamma Island (Hong Kong) on 2004-11-12

Was photographed at the same spot as the Trithemis Aurora & seemed to be interacting with them - both species were perched very close to one another by a small stream.

Keith Wilson replies: Mature female Trithemis aurora. It is not unusual for long-lived mature females to change to male colouration albeit only a hint in many cases.

EG: I guess this explains your observed "interactions" :-)

Luk Keng is one of the dragonfly hot-spots in Hong Kong. I saw this damselfly by a small stream flowing into the marshes.

This was the first odonate picture I took with my Ricoh GX digital camera. I used macro mode and shot handheld at natural light.
