Gynacantha dohrni is a common species. Gynacantha species are easily recognized by the swollen spherical base to the abdomen with large rounded ear-like auricles on segment 2 followed by an extremely constricted segment 3.
This male Gynacantha dohrni measurement :
Front wing length : 44mm
Front wing span : 94mm
Total body length including appendages : 68mm
Superior appendage length : 7mm

JAN TAYLOR: Heliaeschna uninervulata. This specimen was settled by a light in the evening - too big for the geckos to tackle. Clearly has only one cross vein in the median space.
VINCENT KALKMAN: The presence of one crossvein in the median space does seem to point to H. uninervulata. However not all the wings seem to have a crossvein and the anal appendages differ from H. simplica which is said to be more or less identical to H. uninervulata. My guess is that it is a slightly abberant Gynacantha dorhni: the colourpattern and the appendages are identical with this species (Dragonflies of Borneo; Orr, 2003)
