Message-ID: <21649727.14101289864396096.JavaMail.webmail@bluewin.ch> Hello, I'm considering a trip in Madagascar next year, most likely around May. Is it a good time for odonate watching there? If not what part of year would maximize the chance to watch the most species? Thanks for your tips, Regards, Renaud Bernhard From bernhard_renaud at bluewin.ch Tue Nov 23 09:40:37 2010 From: bernhard_renaud at bluewin.ch (bernhard_renaud at bluewin.ch) Date: Tue, 23 Nov 2010 16:40:37 +0000 (GMT) Subject: [Community] Agriocnemis in Laos Message-ID: <1963351.188081290530437499.JavaMail.webmail@bluewin.ch> Good morning, I would like to know how many species of Agriocnemis there is in Laos, or if there are the same species there is in Thailand. Message-ID: <17527758.165711291054886016.JavaMail.webmail@bluewin.ch> Good morning, In his key Fauna Of British Island (1933-34-35), on odonates, Fraser uses what he calls the Nodal Index. It is drawn as some kind of four-quadrate figure with a serie of two numbers on each quadrate. I don't understand what is it referring to and I don't find it on recent works. I have looked into works from about the same time periode than Frasier to see of that nodal index is a notion commonly used back then but that became obsolete, to no avail. So I'm looking into information about that index. He suppose (and I agree with him) that these eggs were laid by some ancient dragonfly species. This discovery is extremely interesting because it represents the first fossil record of oviposition on lycopsid leaves. So, Philippe asked me about oviposition by the recent dragonflies into the licopsids (incl. quillworts of cosmopolitan distribution). As far as I know, there are no published records of the egg laying by a dragonfly into the licopsid plants. But I'm not sure that I have all references on this topic. Probably you have faced with the information we need? If so, please contact me a.s.a.p.!
